Last day of Classical

It was our last day of Classical until September.. It was our turn to do a presentation at opening and we did it on our Cows... It turned out great! Some of the moms said they did not picture me as a cowgirl and I said I am far from it but I do love our cows and the peace I feel when we are out there.

I am so Proud of Ava - She learned so much and she made lots of friends! She also is growing in Christ and I am so excited to see what the Lord's plans are for her!

Ethan, my sweet Ethan... at the beginning of the year he could not hardly stand in front of his class to do his presentation. There is only 8 boys in the class. But now he stands up there alone, speaks clearly and loves it! He has learned so much- all his presidents, all the 50 states and capitals and so much more...

We have been so blessed to be a part of Classical Conversations. I am so thankful for all the Christan Moms that helped me this semester with encouraging words and information for homeschool! This group is amazing! I am so thankful Ava and Ethan had fun, happy, loving and Godly Women as teachers! I can't thank God enough for HIS blessings !

Cupcake Club

Ava decided to start a club at Classical with some of her friends in her class. One day at lunch she got them together and they all took notes. Ava appointed herself President right off the bat. I knew she would be a leader and not a follower! The club has gone well-

things that make me smile

I found this the other day in Ava's bible....

why mom?

and a million more times a day by cullen.....

Ethan's ART work

The other night I went into Cullen's room after the boys had been playing and Ethan showed me his Art work that he had worked so hard on... He drew the War of 1812- He likes to draw and talk about that time in History-- You can see the good guys and bad guys and guns-

Is it summer yet?

This week was beautiful! The kids could not wait to get out the bubble machine and water pool, and get on their bathing suits! It was a wonderful day - even Max loved it.... Boy I can't wait for summer!

Nothing like a little boy and his puppy!

comes back around

it is funny how things come back around in style.. the other day Ethan picked out some converses he wanted! I said Converses? I wore them when I was little-
and with Ava she loves to dress like the 80's.... it is so funny what she puts together b/c I did the same thing- ahhhh the good ol' days!

giggle of the day

today I was trying to put on Cullen's shoes and he was playing around and I said "Cullen I am about to lose my patients!" and he looked at me and said "ME TOO!" I just had to laugh...

All-Star

Ethan was asked to be on a All-Star baseball team. He is the youngest kid out there but he can play. They have him playing 3rd base and he hits second. I am so proud of him. He has found something that he is really good at and loves. Nathan is also coaching coach pitch with Civitan and Ethan is on that team too. I am excited to see how much he has improved from last year... Let's play ball!

my mom

spent some time with my mom yesterday and I have had her on my mind. Just thinking about the wife, mother, friend, Christain, sister, daughter she has been throughout her life. I remember when I got married I prayed that God helped me be a wife to Nathan like my mom has been to my father. Growing up I saw Love being Patient, Love being kind, Love was not proud, Love was not envious, Love was not rude, Love kept no records of wrong.
And if there was anything different I never saw or heard it. As a Mother there was nothing but love and patients for 56 years.
My favorite bible verse that makes me think of my mom is Proverbs 31:25-28

"Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:"

I'm so blessed to have her as my mom!

good day!

when I see this...

it's been a good day!

blessed

last night Ava told me I was the best mom in the world, out of the blue-
Ethan needed one more extra kiss from mommy before bed and my sweet cullen crawls in bed with me in the early early morning and says "you too mommy". In Cullen language that means I love you. I am a blessed mom!

cullen's speech update

Cullen is speaking so much better than he was 5 months ago. He started private speech lessons because he could barely say 25 words clearly. Today he can say almost 100 and can be understood but has a ways to go. Yesterday he was evaluated by the Johnston County
Speech Therapist and he did great. He scored 117 out of 118 on he test that was figuring out things and test how smart he was. So I know nothing is wrong with that brain of his just needs to work on his speech... I was comforted to find that out!

Japan

I could not be more proud of Ava. At the beginning of the year I told Ava I wanted her to do a Book report and then present it. Yes, she is only in 2nd grade but I knew she could do it. I asked that it be non-fiction. She could have chosen anything she wanted. One day last September we were in the homeschool store and she picked out a book on Japan. She read the book and for 4 months she wrote about Japan, she learned how to write the word Japan in Japanese and she made their flag. Last week she finished it and she presented it to her class on fridays at C3. I was so proud of her. She worked so hard and finally it was done. Now she is learning how to say some things in Japanese. Nathan told her if she learned some Japanese and if she got an itinerary together of things she would like to see in Japan and he would take her.... so they will be going in a few months. What a wonderful learning experience!

Gigi's cupcakes.....

and the TREAT for the day is CUPCAKES from the best cupcake place in the world or maybe just NC but they are wonderful.........

girls will be girls....

Ava loves her best friend Ashlynn little. They have been best friends since first grade! When they get together they laugh, they giggle, they dress up, they sing, they talk, and they giggle some more. I just love it! They have made a dance group called "Sneak Peak ". Ava is the lead singer Wendy Sparks and she is the choreographer. I think Ashlynn is the back up singer, Sarah Sparks. Today they performed for me and I had to video. It was the cutest thing ever. I just love having a little girl.

the circus....

who doesn't love the circus?
it was time to go again.... we took ava and ethan and now it was cullen's turn.. He loved it! It was much more entertaining than last time- Cullen picked out his light up spinning toy and I don't think he has turning it off yet!

Field Trip to the State Capital

Since I have been homeschooling I try to take the kids places that we are learning about or educational. We went to Raleigh and toured the Capital. Wow there were so many things I did not even know about. Then we went to the Legislative Bldg.. It was quite funny when the lady asked our homeschool group if anyone knew any fun facts on Gov. Purdue... And all the kids were silent,,,they knew who she was and they knew things about her but nothing they could say out loud b/c they are all republicans!!!!! So no one had any FUN facts on her! I have really wanted to teach the kids a lot about the government and politics b/c this year is an election. So Ava and Ethan know all about the political parties and they know the process of voting- They know about the Bill of Rights and are memorizing the Constitution.... I am so excited they have worked so hard this year!

Presentation on Texas

The kids had to pick a state and do a 3 min. presentation plus cook the state's dish it was known for. Ava and Ethan chose Texas! They did a wonderful job- and we cooked chili- I was so proud of them! And of course you can't leave Cullen out. He wanted to stand up with them!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss
