Ethan tells Cullen he can't count far
Cullen starts to count to 30 then
looks at Ethan and says "Beat that sucker!"

crawls in bed with me every morning and snuggles.

Ethan is his hero and best friend hands down if Ethan drank mud Cullen would too- it is crazy how Cullen thinks Ethan can do no wrong, even when Ethan is mean to him, Cullen does not care. This is unconditional love.

why of all the songs in the world does he like this one? Gangum Style- His favorite part is the chorus-

Aunt Rosemary! We always have fun with Aunt Rosemary- she is so special to us!

Park day....

It was a beautiful day so we decided to go to a new park in Smithfield and then to Mimizis for ice cream- we played tag- and had so much fun. I am truely blessed with these 3 children.

I'm in LOVE with....

 This boy

In the words of Cullen when he put on my sunglassess, "I fabulous!"

girl talk

tonight was the best night. Ava and I talked girl talk. I have always wanted a little girl. Since my mom and I never did a lot of girl talk I could not wait to have my own little girl. We talked about so much- I got out my scrapbook and told her stories of when I was young and talked about all the fun times I had with my girlfriends! It was awesome- We talked about silly things and girl things. Thank you God of this time with my sweet Ava Grace.

I love to see

GREAT minds at work!

Lunch is served....

We are so happy, happy, happy that Spring is here! Now we can eat our lunch outside!

forts are the best

I love it that my kids have a wonderful imagination and they play together very good for the most part. Today is a beautiful day and they are building a fort on the playset-

sleepy head

The mornings Cullen does not crawl into bed with me I find him here. Asleep at the top of the stairs. He is so sleepy he never makes it down to me.

legos

It was quiet so I walked in Cullen's room to find the boys playing with their Legos! Best friends.... I love it.

Cullen's Field Trip

Off to the Smith Farm. We had such a good time and it was a beautiful day.  The kids fed the chickens and goats. We picked strawberries and got ice cream.  The lady that owned the farm told me how impressed she was with Ava being so responsible. I love when people let me how good my kids are. It makes me feel like I am doing a good job... After we picked the strawberries we went home to make strawberry pie. Needless to say it was a hit and the two pies were gone in a blink of an eye!

Sunflowers

Ethan's favorite flower is a Sunflower.
We went to Lowes and he got a handful of packets.
Today the boys planted the seeds. It says it will take 2 weeks before you see a sprout.
Cullen woke up the next morning ran out there and said "No sunflowers mommy!" They are so excited!

5k

Ok it can start snowing in July! I am going to run a 5k.
I have never, never, never liked to run-
A few weeks ago I was walking at a fast pace and I thought well if I can walk this fast, I should try to run. And I have been running since. Then I saw this 5k coming to Raleigh. I talked my friend Lisa Hardee into running with me. I feel really good after I run and I would have never thought in a million years I would run. Now don't get crazy, I am not going to do a marathon. I told Lisa if you have to train for a year to run, now there's a problem.... so 8 weeks to go

you know it's spring time when....

Daddy turns on the Sprinklers!!!

my crazy life

that I love!

Ethan

Today during home school I asked Ethan to write sentences with his 12 vocabulary words. Ethan does not really like to write sentences because he does not want to misspell anything. It really upsets him. I don't know why but he has been this way since we started home school. So he had the idea he would write all his words three times each and then circle all the vowels. I agreed. About 30 min. later he came downstairs, he had finished all his independent work. He said mom I decided to do what you asked me to do plus writing the words three times and circling the vowels. I was shocked and proud. He took it upon his self to do something he really did not want to do and he went far beyond what I had asked of him. I am so proud of this young fellow! He makes my heart smile.

Brody's first birthday

This year has flown by. Sweet baby Brody is one. We had a wonderful time at Jill's. Playing corn hole, volleyball, bubbles, sand toys and cake! What a wonderful day to spend with family to celebrate sweet Brody.

84 years

How do I describe all that is my Dad and all that he means to me?  I am certain I cannot articulate just how wonderful he is and how blessed I am to call him my father.  But today, on his birthday, I will try.

My admiration for him has grown tremendously since having my own children.  Only after experiencing the intense love of being a parent, could I understand just how special my Daddy is.  Falling in love with my children was easy, natural and instant.  This is what happens when you become a parent, you catch that first glimpse of your baby and life as you know it is forever changed.  The moment they are placed in your arms you become fully aware that this tiny being has taken control of your heart and you begin to understand the beauty of unconditional love.

My Dad wasn't there to see me draw my first breath.  I wasn't swaddled and placed into his awaiting arms.  We didn't have that moment, the moment where he gazed into my newborn face and made endless promises to me.  Promises of love and protection from a father to his tiny, new daughter.  My Dad didn't catch his "first glimpse" of me until years later.  He missed my first cry, first words, first steps.

Only after having Ava, Ethan and Cullen could I fully understand what a special person it takes to raise a child as your own years after they are born.  And while I know that I could eventually fall in love with any child, I know that when that child is yours, your own flesh and blood, and you have been there for every minute of their life, that love comes easy.

I can't imagine where I would be today if I hadn't stepped into his life.  His love has shaped my life.  I am thankful for his guidance and wisdom.  He is undoubtedly the finest man I know and I am so proud to be his daughter.  He exudes integrity and compassion.  He is kind and generous.  He loves God and his knowledge of God's word is astounding.  He never says anything negative or derogatory about others and is a wonderful listener and counselor.

We experienced our fair share of bumps in the roads during my teenage years and I am sure I have disappointed him many times.  Those days are a distant memory and we now share a wonderful friendship and admiration for each other.

He is an amazing, wonderful person and I know that he shaped my life more than anyone else.  When I found out Ethan was a boy, I knew instantly that I wanted to name him after my Daddy. Ethan Wallace.  One day I hope Ethan will understand what an honor it is for him to share that name with his grandfather.  I feel tremendously blessed to know him as my Daddy and to call him my friend.   I love you Daddy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA!
Ava made him a card that said Perfect Meal- Porkskins, Kitkat and Pepsi

Let's go Falcons

A big win today for us against Fuquay!  Ethan played amazing- I love to watch him play.

End of the year Ceremony

24 weeks and here we are! Classical Conversations has come to an end. This is our 2nd year homeschooling and we have loved Classical so much. We have met great friends and learned a lot. I am so blessed to have this home school family.  Each of the kids got on stage to show off somethings they learned this year. I was so proud of Ava learning all the Prepositions- Ethan learned sign language and he did some of the History Time line using it. Cullen learned all the different types of Volcano's! His favorite was the dormant ones - he would put his hands under his cheeks, close his eyes and snore! I am so proud of these three children!

A day at the ball park

Chris Archer is back in town, pitching for the Durham Bulls!  We spent the day at the ball park. It was a beautiful day. We at pizza outside and watched the game. Ava was asked to go on the field to play a game - she had to catch bugs in her pants. What a wonderful day it was.
