Happy New Year!

May your days be full of love and laughter and be thankful everyday for all that God has blessed you with!

thankful.....

.

with Thanksgiving just around the corner I have so many thing I am thankful for-

first and foremost I am thankful for my Lord and Savior that has saved me from all of my sins and blessed me beyond what I deserve.

my husband that loves my unconditionally and says I am beautiful even though I feel and look my worst

my children that are my gifts from God- they are my joy, my life, my loves, my hope, my angels

my family, my wonderful family that loved me the first time they laid eyes on me and even though I was not blood they have never thought of me any different- they have taken care of me, cheered for me, cried with me, been there good and bad and prayed for me every day of my life

my friends, old and new- my friends that I grew up with me have stuck with me through thick and thin and have loved me through the good times, bad and the ugly- they have loved me even when I did not love myself- they have encouraged me and been my rock- I smile every time I remember the good times we have had .... my new friends, they have taken me in as one of them- they have listened to me, supported me, laughed with me and by their example make me want to me a better mother, wife, friend and sister-

my health and my life

"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever."
Psalms 107:1

Booooing..........

I have to first thank Allyson Lee for introducing us to the boo basket. My kids have had the time of their life with this boooing stuff.

Friday night was so fun.... we made spooky halloween cupcakes- eyeball ice cubes, spooky decorations for the house and silly lips- we were ready!! The Hardee's came over for pizza and friday night movie night... while they were here we got booed... Now that was so exciting....

The next night was our turn... We all dressed in black,,, Ava drew a map to our neighbors house (got to have a map), we had our plan and we were off.. only problem... our neighbors were outside at their fire pit... so we had to really sneak- we ran home as fast as we could and waited... then we went to the road and watched- they happened to walk to the front of the house and saw their basket... we heard them screaming and yelling- their dad read the letter very dramatically- it was so funny....

Last night we did our other neighbor and Daddy came along.... it was so fun! I just love this idea!

M&M's and the Potty don't mix!

Cullen has shown a big interest in going #2 in the potty- so I got a bag of M&M's to give him a treat when he goes potty- I did this with Ava and Ethan and they liked it and it worked. I don't know why I did this with Cullen b/c he is going to the potty on his own (not every time but every other day) but I thought a treat would be good-

So today after his #2 and we sang our song and clapped our hands I opened the bag of m&m's and gave him a few-

#1 mistake: don't let him see where you hide the m&m's
#2 mistake: don't leave him in the bathroom with the hidden m&m's

I go downstairs to throw away his diaper and I come back to find this....................
he used his potty to store all the m&m's he dumped out-
cullen, cullen, cullen ......... what am I going to do with you?

million dollar question........

Will Cullen sleep in his new bed? or on the floor at the door?

is that soap? oh NO it's not.....

Ava wanted Cullen to take a bath with her the other night. They were playing and all the sudden i hear her screaming- "I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SOAP, YUCK IT'S STICKY!!!!!" I ran in the bathroom and Mrs. dramatic Ava was out of the tub and Cullen was in the tub standing up laughing.... She was acting so crazy he thought she was funny. She was trying to find the bar of soap and picked up something that was not soap... Cullen had stickied in the tub.... He has been stinking in the potty but I guess that day he had not quite finished!

needless to say, Cullen is no longer allowed in Ava's bathroom-

new sleeping arrangements

I originally was going to do a post on how I am so, so sad because we took down Cullen's crib. He has started to jump out of it/fall out of it- I was going to talk about reconsidering baby #4..... and then this happened...........

Cullen does NOT like the idea is crib is gone.... He is sleeping on a mattress on the floor right now until we can get a bed. He will not stay on the mattress- and he can open his door so I put up a gate that he can not get over but he can still see and hear which makes him madder! So last night he decides he has had it, he gets everything he can pick up and throws it over the gate, he even gets naked and throws his clothes and diaper over. He was in some sort of rage- Have you heard the phrase "Let them cry it out". Well that does not apply to my child he will cry for hours - I finally rocked him to sleep and laid him on his mattress and at 12 he woke up- then again at 3 then again at 5.... I am trying to be consistant but the life is being sucked out of me very, very slowly.... So let's talk baby #4!

what's going on at plaza de luke......

Ava is back in school and happy as can be...so is Ethan! He loves her but now he is the boss!

Ethan started tennis lessons and he loves it. Cullen loves it too b/c he gets to run after the balls.

Cullen has so many favorite things right now, first cats! He loves cats, if he sees one he meows, if we are in the store and he sees cat food he meows, if you say cat he meows, I got him a cat that walks and meows and he sleeps with it. I asked Nathan if I should get Cullen a cat pillow pet for his b-day and he said "I don't think so." So I guess a Lion will have to do. Cullen still loves balls, baseball, basketball, football any ball- now his new thing is to get naked and sit on the potty. Which is a good thing until the song comes on and tells him to "get the toilet paper" and he gets the toilet paper again and again and again..... He did go #1 and #2 last night on the potty and I was so excited--- let's see if that happens again...

Soccer starts this week for Ethan and Ava... 2 nights a week plus Ethan's tennis and he starts his Art class...

we have one more trip to the beach and our summer will offically be over- this summer went by so fast- we did some fun things but we had a lot of sadness.

Fall is just around the corner and things are getting busy for us....but no complaining here!

where is the best place to hide a butter bean?

I'll give you one guess...... in your nose...
Mommy and daddy will never find it there-
Cullen has been sticking his finger in his nose for about a week now. I guess it is fun or he likes to get a reaction from me and Nathan..

Well last night he was sticking his finger up his nose and we kept saying "Stop Cullen"...
After bath Ava and Cullen were playing while I cleaned up dinner and I came upstairs and noticed Ava had a flashlight and toilet paper. She said "Mommy something is in Cullen's nose and I tried to get him to blow but he would not" I looked up his nose and it looked like a big slimy biggie, but once I put the light up there I could tell it was NOT a biggie.
I called Nathan b/c he is in charge of removing splinters and ticks so I thought this is a job for daddy plus Cullen listens to him. Cullen layed on the bed and Nathan saw that it was green, probably a butter bean. He told Cullen to lay still and he did. Nathan got the tweezers and very very carefully pulled out the Biggest Butter bean. No wonder he kept putting his finger up his nose.

"Stinky Base Balls"

all I have to say is Cullen.

I normally don't have the time to sit down and blog all the things he has done in one day that he was not suppose to do but this I had to blog.

Tonight I am filling the tub up with water, and Cullen is in the tub- I stepped out to help Ava in her shower and all of the sudden I hear this.....

but first let me tell you that everything round that Cullen sees he thinks is a baseball- he loves to watch baseball, throw baseball, wear them on his clothes- he is crazy about baseballs

back to the story.... Ethan yells, MOMMY Cullen has stinked
in the tub and he is throwing it... I run to see what was going on and there he is standing up with a handful of stinky balls some were already on the floor and he looked at me and said "Baseball"!

cullen.............................................................................................................................................

First Grade!

My first grader! I can't believe summer is over and Ava is off to the first grade- I will miss my helper so much- but I know she is one happy girl! She has a wonderful teacher and she gets to see all her friends.......

first, second and third

first...

my Ava sweet Ava is 6.5 going on 13, shopping, singing, dancing, putting on concerts, playing school, tomatoes, Taylor Swift, Purple, Littlest Pet shops, and drawing are just a few of her favorite things...... her personality and imagination are over the top- She will have a debate with you one second and pray for you the next...she is a deep thinker and dreams to be a Cook, Singer, and a Mommy! What more could I ask for in a little girl.....

the middle.....
my love, my heart, my Ethan Wallace- is finally 5, he has waited so long to be 5-

he loves Star Wars and the Wii- castles, baseball, knights, pirates, tractors, his nite-nite, his friends, fuzzy pants and going fast on four wheelers, jet ski's, boats.. well just about anything.. He is quiet and tenderhearted- it breaks his heart when things die and he says extra prayers for whatever it is big or small. He is silly, smart and a "old soul". Peanuts, Pepsi and his Papa are highlights of his week, his best friend is his dad- He is a man of few words and when he is tired there is no talking, he is out. He is slow so, so slow but I think to myself one day this may be a good thing. I could not have asked for a better little boy-

last but not least... Trouble

my mischievous, loud, messy, stinky, trouble maker that I just could not live without..... he is cute but so much trouble- he has everyone wrapped around his little finger and he knows it!

First thing in the morning I hear that sweet voice say "Mama", "Mama", "Mama" and I know my day will be nothing less than interesting... He keeps me on my toes and my medicine cabinet stocked with Advil - He is all boy and he loves his brother and sister- he loves to brush his teeth, being naked, chasing any animal no matter how big or small and steps on any bug that he can- He loves CATS- he sleeps with 2 stuffed animals that are cats and has a dozen cat books, he meows like a cat - and would just go nuts if one would let him touch them- he also loves BASEBALL- if we ride by a baseball field he will say "baseball" without us saying one thing about it. If it is on tv he will sit and watch it for as long as it is on and he claps when they hit the ball- he loves to hold the bat and someone pitch the ball to him, he will swing and 1 time out of the 10 you do it he will hit the ball and he drops the bat and runs like he is going to base- hide and seek is another thing he loves to do- although he will hide in the same spot every time! He always surprises me-and his sweet kisses I could not live without-

good time with good friends.......

2010 beach trip to Topsail
our 2nd annual beach trip to Topsail with the Lee's, Oliver's, Hardee's and this year the Wood's! Lots of kids and lots of fun.... between the beach, playground, arcade, movies, hide and go seek and swimming in the canal we managed to sleep some! It was a wonderful 3 days - Cullen was in heaven for 2 reasons... 1 he was with the big boys and he thought he was special and #2 there were 2 pretty little girls named Ella and Lily that caught his eye! Even though Ella and Cullen had a moment where they were going to see who was going to be the boss- neither one would back down! So Cullen gave Ella (a.k.a. pickles) a run for her money! Thanks to Allyson for giving my family a place to stay and to Lisa for letting us come to her house to eat and play! I enjoyed all the mommy talk with some wonderful mommies! Can't wait until next year!

garden time.....

it is that time of the year again, were we put on our old shoes, grab a bucket and head out to granny and papa's garden.... Cullen loved it! He picked whatever he saw (ready or not)- the first trip to the garden was corn day! 400 ears of corn- Cullen loves corn- he loves it, so he could not understand why he could not eat the corn right then- well after a few min. of him screaming I let him have one and you would think after one bite of raw corn on the cob he would be done- NOPE not Cullen he ate the whole thing and wanted another one- oh me, oh my!

our granddad

A boy needs a Grandpa... For man-to-man talks, To go hand in hand On companionable walks,
To fix up his toys When they no longer go, To tell him the things Little boys want to know.
A boy needs a Grandpa...To show him the way To handle a puppy, To teach him fair play.
To impart bits of wisdom He's learned through the years,That it's no disgrace For a man to shed tears.
A boy needs a Grandpa... To sit on his lap And if no one is looking, They take a wee nap,
Each wrapped in an aura Of love and esteem, Each smiling gently At some special dream.
Author unknown

my heart is heavy tonight as I write about Larry or as we called him, Granddad. It does not seem real, it is not fair and my heart is broken because we will miss him so much.
Granddad....
loved his grandchildren-from the second they got to his house until they left he had a smile on his face.
always had ice cream for Ethan! He would always ask Granddad for some of his ice cream and it did not matter what time it was Larry would always say, "Give him some ice cream, it won't hurt him."
would put everyone on his golf cart and go down to the pond for a quick ride
would do magic tricks for Ava and play ball with the boys
was always so silly with the kids
loved going to the farm with the kids and seeing them feed the cows
so many memories we have and will cherish about the
wonderful man we called Granddad

Granny and Papa's Beach

A family tradition that started 49 years ago with 5 people. Mom, Dad, (my oldest sister) Jill, Robbie (my brother) and my other sister Armenia. 49 years later our family as grown to 22 people! It started at Atlantic Beach and now Ocean Isle. A house full, sometimes up to 25 people if someone brings a friend! So many memories through the years.... Ava and Ethan start asking about Granny and Papa's beach around Christmas time and Ethan packs his bag about a week before we go. They love to be with all their cousins! Granny makes her famous Fudge that gets hidden so it will not get all gone- and sometimes it is found and re-hidden from the ones who hide it the first time- Going to the beach, lots of talks walking on the beach with sister's and nieces- kids playing in the water- Ethan riding the Big Cahoona waves-, walking to the pier and playing at the arcade- putt putt and off to the ice cream shop. Playing games and sharing stories, going to the movies and out to eat- playing at the pool, no schedule- staying up late and eating whatever makes you happy- and whatever is heaven to a one year old Cullen thinks he is there- he had 22 people at his service and ran around naked just about the whole week- he was spoiled beyond belief and next week he will be in shock because he will be back to the real world!
Ethan was the putt putt champion and Nathan said Ethan you need to say this, "Do you smell it? It's the smell of Victory" Ethan sniffed the air and replied.. "I don't smell anything". The best Quote of the week was from Ava "I love it here". I got to take a 3 hour nap one day and rest at the beach- wow I love family vacation! Everyone had a wonderful week as we do every year. we are so blessed to have this special tradition and such a special family.
